There are two good reasons for adding lights to gingerbread houses. The first is – the house looks neat with lights shining through the windows. Secondly, the light slightly warms the gingerbread, creating a very pleasant aroma of gingerbread and spices. There are several ways to add lighting to your gingerbread house. Below is the easiest method that provides the most creative flexibility
String of Lights Purchase a string of lights from most any store (the shortest strings work best - 10 lights). Use duct tape or electrical tape to secure the lights onto your base, making sure to place lights within the walls and/or around your house (if you want a "lit" fence). Heavily duct tape area where cord will exit the house to keep cord from moving and cracking exterior walls. When taping light string to base, try and position lights so they all face up.
